Fashion Night Out, TIFF, Fashion Cares, Madonna; this was a crazy busy month of September for the city of Toronto. If you follow me on twitter (click here if you have yet to follow: Neda_Feta), you would have already read all about my outfits and celeb sightings this month. However, unfortunately I couldn’t fit all my inside gossip into just 140 characters so here is your exclusive scoop on what happened in the secured party venues in the wee hours of the morning.

This day was absolute madness. On my schedule was an Accounting lab until 7pm, an appearance at Fashion Night Out (FNO), and two TIFF party’s. I practically sprinted out of my Accounting lab (yes I am a student), honking cars out of the way to have at least 30 minutes to get ready for a huge night.
First up, I joined in on the celebrations for the first ever FNO in Toronto! I began my night at Hazelton Lanes where I enjoyed being treated to Passion Fruit juice and browsing through the racks of The Peacock Parade’s popup shop. As a proud holder of a Mastercard, I was also treated to exclusive access into the Mastercard Stylicity Lounge, which featured an opportunity to take photographs on a step-and-repeat wall and meet a true icon, Jeanne Beker. I spoke to Ms. Beker of my deep regrets that an era has come to an end with the cancellation of Fashion Television. She said not to worry and that she has several projects lined up. Best of luck Ms. Jeanne Beker! I then walked through the very packed Yorkville, and ended up on Bloor Street where Holt Renfrew closed a part of the street to celebrate their 175th anniversary. They gave out limited edition pink bottles of coke and candied corn. The success of this event gives me faith that it will be back next year.
Next, I grabbed my car, and rushed to the first TIFF party venue at the Storys Building, but not before being stopped by a cop for driving the opposite way on a one way street…whoops! I am a huge fan of the Storys Building venue as it has a very relaxed, loft-like feel. This first party was the post-premiere party for the movie Dredd. Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby were in attendance. I had tons of fun posing for quirky photos in the photobooth courtesy of Virgin Mobile and ensuring my phone was charged to keep up with my celeb sighting by visiting their mobile charger station. I also sipped on more than a few glasses of wine.
The last party of the night was at the Patria and was a post-premiere party for the movie On the Road. Yes, I know what you are all thinking, this was the movie that Kristin Stewart was in Toronto for. The talent showed up an hour late due to a technical difficulty during the premiere. Luckily, guests were distracted by the unlimited supply of wine, and the Spanish hors d’oeuvres such as mini cheese balls (or at least that’s what I call them), and octopus crafted treats. Finally, Kristin Dunst arrived with her beau Garrett Hedlund; however, just as I was reaching for a cheese ball they rushed upstairs to a VIP area without me catching a glimpse. So, technically Kristin Stewart was a no-show although she was confirmed to appear. But…drum roll please…here’s the inside gossip, she showed up to the back door of Patria and went up to the security guard and told him that she couldn’t come in. Thanks Kristin for making that announcement in person? Weird…I know.

Friday was a star-studded day! I spent the morning visiting the Breakfast Television set at Ritz Carlton hoping to sneak a photo with Michael Stagliano and Ed Swiderski from The Bachelor/Bachelorette/Bachelor Pad franchise. I was also snuggled and greeted at 8am by the Hotel Transylvania creatures.
The night began this time at the Patria for the Seven Psychopaths pre-premiere reception. The first to arrive was the beautiful Abbie Cornish in a red, floor-length gown. Next to arrive was none other than, Woody Harrelson, the man known for over 75 titles. Funny story to share…while my friend and I were sampling drinks at the bar (of course), Woody Harrelson walked in with his gang and came straight to the bar. Before we even noticed their arrival, a man came up to us and introduced himself. This man ended up being Woody’s publicist. He called Woody over and introduced us to him. We ended up hanging out and having drinks with Woody and some of his buddies who had genuine interest in how my friend and I knew each other! What a lad! Unfortunately Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, and Christopher Walken arrived minutes after we left.
Next up, we made a very poor effort to sneak into the Spring Breakers after-party at Brassaii, which was rumoured to be decorated to fit a real spring break party, fully equipped with girls bouncing around in their bikinis in a jacuzzi. I found pictures online.
We made our way over to the Storys Building where two post-premiere parties were being held; Ginger & Rosa on the 2nd floor and What Maisie Knew on the 3rd floor. We began at the What Maisie Knew gathering where we first prepped all the bartenders on the stars who were going to be making an appearance. The stunning Julianne Moore showed up in a cleavage-baring dress but kept confined in the VIP area. One bartender took one look at Julianne Moore and said, and I quote: “She is not 51”. I knew Alexander Skarsgard had walked in when I felt my stomach tie up in knots. He really is as tall as he says he is, 6’4 to be exact. To address all the rumours about how he’s become very skinny for his new role in the movie Hidden, I can definitely confirm he was looking much skinnier than he does in True Blood. Either way, still a hunk. I briefly spoke to Alexander and wished him luck on his future endeavours. Alison Mosshart from The Kills was also present spinning some soul tracks.
As soon as we made our way to the 2nd floor we ran into Elle Fanning (Dakota Fanning’s sister). She was dressed in a questionable Miu Miu suit that is very hard to pull off, but with her adorably quirky personality she made it work. She was such a genuine girl, and was definitely mature above her 14 year old age. She revealed that it was her first time in Canada and that she was currently filming a movie in London. She definitely liked the city, so lucky for us she may be back very soon! Next up, we chatted with the absolutely stunning Christina Hendricks, best known for her role in Mad Men. She was wearing a very covered black gown by Ports 1961, which most men would probably not be very happy about. Christina actually used to live in Canada for a year, but had never heard of the CN Tower Edge Climb, which she claims is definitely not for her. Oh, and here’s some inside info, she is not a natural red head!

I was unfortunately absent for The Fitzgerald Family Christmas, Writers, and At Any Price premiere parties, which were attended by celebs such as Lily Collins, Zac Efron, Kristin Bell, Christy Turlington, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Jennifer Connelly and more! I had previous arrangements to see Jason Mraz live in concert.

After a long, sad week of school, I was back on the party scene for Friday. This time, I actually got to see the premiere of the movie, making The Paperboy, my first ever TIFF screening. In case you haven’t heard about this movie, it stars Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey and John Cusack and is directed by Lee Daniels. Click here to see the trailer. I described this movie as being effed up in a good way. Unfortunately, only Zac Efron, Lee Daniels, and David Oyelowo showed up to the premiere. Rumour has it, Nicole Kidman bailed last minute because they wouldn’t fly nine of her people first class to Toronto…gotta love celebrity demands! During the Q&A after the premiere, Zac revealed that the scenes with Nicole Kidman were a dream come true (tsk tsk there were intimate scenes), but his favorite part of the movie was working with Macy Gray (who plays his family’s servant in the movie).
After the movie, everyone made their way over to Bloke and 4th for dinner. Everyone except for me of course…considering I accidentally forgot where I parked my car. Of course, by the time I retrieved my vehicle, Zac had told everyone he was heading out for a smoke break and made a quick dash like a true celebrity…lucky me. He ended up having the Chicken entree but skipped the Chocolate Molten Lava dessert in case you were wondering.
It was a fantastic year for TIFF, with more celebrities showing up to Toronto than ever before. When it comes to TIFF, the reviews of movies are the first most important critique, but who wore what comes in a close second. Here is my best dressed list:
BEST DRESSED #5: Kristin Stewart in Zuhair Murad Couture
BEST DRESSED #4: Penelope Cruz in Atelier Versace
BEST DRESSED #3: Kate Hudson in Emilio Pucci
BEST DRESSED #2: Lily Collins in Balmain
BEST DRESSED #1: Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen
Yes Kate Hudson made the list twice, she was just that good looking this week. What do you think of the list? Let me know who you thought was the best dressed! I’m nosy and curious after all!
I wined, I dined, and lived the 5-star lifestyle for a week. Now back to reality…
Be Healthy, Be Happy, Be Chic.
